Practical Conservation Group Leader (Devon-wide)

Our Practical Conservation Group Leader make a real difference to their local environment. Without them, many threatened butterflies and moths could be lost forever.

The role of Practical Conservation Group Leader ensures that their local site is a haven for wildlife and the people who enjoy it. In this role you will be responsible for attending the work party and leading the group, telling the group about the health and safety guidelines and risks involved, being the first aider, taking an attendance register, collecting tools, returning them, and sending in records. Butterfly Conservation can provide you with first aid training if needed.

You will enjoy physical work and have the chance to see the results of your efforts both on the day and in the following spring and summer when the butterflies and moths return. You don’t need to know anything about butterflies or moths to get started, but will have the chance to learn about them and other wildlife.

This particular role will aim to lead practical conservation group tasks across a number of sites in Devon, including BC's reserve, Little Breach.

There will be initial support given to the new practical conservation group leader by the previous holder of the role for the Devon Branch. This role can be combined with the Practical Conservation Events Co-ordinator role advertised, so that the same person undertakes both roles.
