Threatened Species Surveyor - Highland Nymph
The Highland Nymph (Callisto coffeella) affectionately nicknamed the Alpine Coffee Moth because of the coffee-coloured wings and alpine habitat of the moth, is one of our scarcest species in the UK.
Our conservation work depends on us knowing how butterfly and moth populations are doing, and we are lucky to have over forty years' worth of data collected by volunteers to help us in our mission to conserve butterflies and moths. Such survey data couldn’t be more important than for this species of moth, which appears to be on the edge of extinction in the UK. This role is suitable for people who enjoy walking in the hills and requires an excellent level of fitness and ability to survey in mountainous areas.
At Butterfly Conservation, we want to create a world where butterflies and moths are enjoyed by everyone, forever.
